Cuppy...

wasn't it just yesterday? when you came to us... as the cute little puppy...

honey refused to share her new bed with you... but you didn't really care... you just want to play with her, and you fell asleep beside her bed...

do you remember when we were at the dog run? one of the dogs bit you on the face... but you didn't really care... you just kept on playing... you were afraid of the ladder... but you just kept following honey around the dog run. before you knew it... you found yourself at the top of the ladder. remember?

do you remember the day we went to the park at sunset way... you ran into a nest of red ants... they were all over you... but you just kept on walking, wagging your tail... stopping occasionally to shake the ants off... do you remember?

and the time when we walked to botanic gardens... you pulled at the leash so that you can say hi to another dog.... i slipped and fell to my knees... in a mud pool. my jeans gained a hole that day... and my shoes and legs were covered in mud. i grumbled to you about being a naughty boy... and you just stepped into the mud with me... and looked at me with the goofy smile... as if saying... 'see, we are both dirty now... ' :')

there was this day when i came home to find that you have chewed 1 shoe out of each pair of all my shoes... i told you i hated you... and scolded you, saying that you are a naughty boy... dont believe a word of that... i dont hate you at all... :'( i wished i didn't say that to you...

what will i give... to have you squeeze your fat butt onto the couch with me again while i am watching tv... or have your head investigating what i am cooking in the kitchen... or hearing you panting, and try to grab your big wet tongue...

Cuppy... thank you for giving me all those memories... thank you for loving me whole heartedly... with so much exuberance...

i miss you so much... watching your video makes me cry... as the song goes... you made me cry... make me smile... make me feel that love is true...

It's funny... how the things i missed most about Cuppy... was the things that used to 'irritate' me most...

Cuppy, sticking his face right into mine while I am driving...

Cuppy, wagging his tail excitedly and dashing to see his fav Dr. Heng... scaring all the other dogs and their owners inside the vet clinic...

Cuppy... Cuppy loved and embraced everything... He loved his food... He loved his people... he loved vet visits... he loved his walks... he loved injections... his attitude in life is... Love...

Can't really remember anything that he didn't like... the pure joy he exhibit influences everybody around him...

His life was short... but it was a very happy one... because Cuppy chosed it to be...

I could imagine him over at rainbow bridge... running around with all his new found cats and dogs friends...

Cuppy.. we all miss you...

Came across a long lost album of Feodora photos... I wonder if I were to meet you on rainbow bridge, will you still remember me? Are you doing well now? Do you know how much I miss you still... will you run to me as you used to and give me a little nibble on the finger? it's been almost 3 years... how time flies... if you were still around... i guess you would be a grand premier by now. Grand Premier Feodora... I miss you, baby... very very much...

I wished there were more I could do to save you... My only consolation is you are free from all pain now. We have many siberian kittens in Singapore now... everytime I see grown up photos of the kittens, I wonder how you would have looked like as an adult... Since you've been gone, no other cat has taken up your place of grooming my hair in the morning... I remembered I used to push you off during weekends when I wanted to sleep in.... You always come back patiently and start grooming my hair again... I am sorry baby...

I have your brother with me now. His name is Medovii... It means Honey in russian. Remember how I used to call you dora honey? I named him after you... He is a totally sweet boy... as beautiful as you too... but he is quite timid.... none of your spunk. I am sure you will ride all over his head if you were still around.

I put down a cat today. It wasn't my cat. It was a stray cat that a forumer found. He took it to the vet and posted for anyone to take over the care as he couldn't support it anymore. I went down to the vet's. The cat was very very affectionate. Even though it must have been suffering with the long list of problems it is suffering from. Her rescuer named her Felicia. I wanted to help. But in the end I couldn't. She was suffering from some neural problems, her head is tilted and she walks around in circles. She was dehydrated and had a very bloated stomach. She also is yellow, sign of jaundice. The diagnostic tests itself would cost more than a thousand dollars. Her condition will require surgery to her brain, which will cost somemore. She also require treatment for her possible liver problem. Not to mention the fip possibility. :(

So after discussion with her rescuer, we decided to let her go. I only knew Felicia for the last hr of her life... but, she had already endear herself to us.

Rest in peace Felicia darling. May you be in a happy place now free from suffering. I am so sorry I couldn't do much except accompany you in your final journey. Say hi for me to my darling Feodora at Rainbow Bridge,ya! Remember that you are loved. Will miss your loving spirit.

Winter Wonderland Cat show aftermath

Had a very very long day at cat show yesterday. Doll Doll was BEST CAT IN PREMIERSHIP!!!! The little queen was interviewed on Suria too! Haha... Our new girl Hermies did us proud. She did lose to her sister, but her calm and friendly nature at the show indicates many more shows to come.

Had a really good time chatting with viv, viv's dad, bast and ernie.

Will try to be more ready for next show. New show curtains, perhaps!

Long Live the Queen

Just went to M&Ms to extend Cuppy's stay. My mum aka the Queen, has decided to stay long. Cohen kindly offered to take in my mum for boarding so that Cuppy can go home. Well well... hahaha.... reluctantly I have to decline. Haha... just joking mum! just in case you are reading! :P

Visited cuppy. He looks ok. A bit sad when I leave. He didn't even want to chew his raw hide bone... :( poor boy. He must be feeling lonely and thinking that this 'camping' trip is too long. Sigh... Good news is, Cohen said he is walking quite well with him. This saturday will be my turn to try. hee...

Really looking forward to weekend. Cuppy can have a good run then. No rains hopefully.

Cuppy is going for Obedience training

That's IT! I am sending cuppy for obedience training. I have asked my sister to send him for ages. Even offer to pay and ferry them to the trainings, she and her bf still procrastinate. Now that she is happily in US, I am stuck here with a super strong and NOT TRAINED dog.

I was told Cuppy was vaccinated early this year. I went down to Mt Pleasant at Sunset Way to collect a duplicate copy of the cert since they lost the original. I was told his last vaccination was 16 Nov. I confidently told the nurse 'No Lah! early this year. can you check again?' she printed out for me and YES! IT's 16th NOV 2006! *(&@%^*#*) i called my sister in Buffalo... she verified, ya, last nov.. DAMN DAMN DAMN. the clinic takes last walk in at 4pm. It was 315pm and I was there Cuppy-less. I drove home down Ulu Pandan at 90km/h. Pissed and driving like an angry woman. Opened the door, leashed a desperately happy Cuppy and drove at 90km/h back to clinic. The clinic was empty when I left it at 315. when i go back at 330, it was filled!!!! I am not joking. in the 15 min that i was away, 8-10 people arrived at the clinic, all with small dogs or cats. Cuppy was mad with joy! the dog owners instinctively shield their dogs from cuppy. I couldn't hold on to him in my heels. Luckily the staff at the clinic helped me. 3 strong men. that's the number of pple requred to hold him down. I am pissed because

I was there with Cuppy just last week. If I had been informed that he has not been vaccinated, I could do it at the same time, and not waste another trip.
Cuppy is a VERY VERY strong dog. It's not his fault for jumping on every single person or dog. He is just happy but doesn't know how to express it in an acceptable doggie fashion. It's the owners' fault for not training him since young. And I HAVE BEEN OFFERING AND OFFERING TO PAY AND CHAUFFER YOU THERE!!!!!! You just need to be there with cuppy.

If my sister is reading this, I do love Cuppy very much. He is a very nice dog. BUT, I HAVE MY OWN WORK OBLIGATIONS AND MY OWN BABIES TOO!!!!!!

This time, I am sending him for behaviour training. I WILL SEE TO IT PERSONNALLY! And this time as a punishment, it's NOT FREE! You better pay me back when you come back. I hope it will help you learn to be responsible for your own dog.

Finally... after close to a month, Honey Cuppy and Spartan are getting along fine. Honey is the alpha dog, followed by cuppy and lastly spartan.

It's quite funny to watch. Cuppy will actually wait for honey to eat first. the size of his head is enough to push honey away, but he will only eat when honey walks off. If he trys to steal a bite or two, honey will snap at his face and he will run off and watch from a distance! My little honey dominates over big Cuppy! Way to go girl! hahaha... it was quite sweet to watch when cuppy protected the 2 CHH at the west coast dog run last sunday. some other dogs were happily chasing them around. Honey was getting a bit irritated and started growling. And that is the cue for cuppy to the rescue. He playfully chase all the 'invaders' away! aww....

Introduction to the cats went ok. The cats want nothing to do with cuppy. Everywhere cuppy goes, cats scatter... well... no fur is lost... i assume that is alright. It will be ages (if that day ever comes) before I can let cuppy and the cats be together unattended...

Tomorrow, it would have been 2 whole years since Feodora passed away.

Time heals all wounds, but the wounds heal so slowly.

I can talk about her now casually without crying. But writing this post brings back such raw pain that I cannot really explain. In a way, I do want to move on. I have my other babies to love, but a part of me does not want to let go. I don't want to forget her. I wonder where she is now. I wonder if the Rainbow bridge really exists. I miss her so much. Her soft fur, her gentle purr, her playful growl, her cute chirps...

If only I have the chance to spend another day with her... I will tell her how much I love her.. and how much she is missed.

Work... doesn't matter. If only... ...

Just spent a bomb grooming my car. Cuppy peed on my car seat on the way to the dog run last thursday. I could have bought myself that PlayStation 3 many times over now, with all those money that I spend replacing chewed cushion, grooming the 'Dirtiest Lady Driven Car' as my trusty car groomer would say, and replacing my mom's chewed slippers....

Well... but the PS 3 will not wait patiently at the door for me to come back home everyday, and be so desperately happy to see me. Haha...

Tiring morning at West Coast park dog run

Bring cuppy+honey+spartan out at the same time is not easy. Thanks to my hubby who volunteered to go with me.

Cuppy was running around the house with a ball in his mouth, the squeaky kind of ball. I was like... ya ya, i get it. dog run.

The moment he was released from his leash, he was like a prisoner given his freedom. He ran and ran and ran. There was a lady with a french bulldog, and a guy with his cocker spaniel. It rained quite heavily this morning, so the ground was really muddy. The dogs had a hell of a good time. Before long, they were all brown and caked with mud. Cuppy even lay down in the middle of a puddle. ULTIMATE GROSSNESS!

But seeing them run about so happily, i can't help joining in the fun. I ran like a crazy woman on the field, with 5 dogs racing with me. It was muddy, but fun! Super fun! that's a dog's life.

I am really exhausted right now. Cuppy is still full of energy. Oh well!!!!! Honey and cuppy are still not best of friends. They can tolerate each other, but the comfort distance is around 30 cm. Any closer, they will start barking!!!! hope things will be better soon.

Life is so fragile

There are so many what-ifs in my head now.

Last weekend, MS and I brought Cuppy in for a blood transfusion for a dog named Candy. Due to some complications, the blood wasn't taken. But Cuppy is to be on standby.

This morning... I received another call. This time it's really urgent. I told my boss i need to take urgent leave and rushed out of the office. Just when I was stepping into the lift, I received another call. Candy had passed on...

I frozed. I didn't even speak much when her owner called to inform me of the bad news. My brains just hanged.

What if Cuppy had been there earlier, would the ending have been different?

All these reminded me of Feodora. All those days spent waiting at the vets, not sure what is going to happen, whether she can make it through... It will be 2 years.. coming nov 29. The pain is still so raw... i know how candy's owners must be feeling right now. But, there's nothing I can do to help.:(

I feel so lost now. Life is so fragile.
My heart goes out to Candy's owners.. God Bless.

I really miss my baby girl... wonder where she is now? and how she is doing...
and going through the photos.. the tears roll down again..

Memories of our happy time together, memories of her falling sick.. memories of her at the operation theatre.. memories of collecting her urn from the vet's...

The good memories are bitter sweet, but the bad memories.. they are still so raw... i could still remember the helpless look on her face when she was on the drip.. the cries of pain she made when the nurse tried in vain to take blood from her paw...

My parents flew in for a visit the past week. My father is somewhat an animal lover. He likes animals, he will play with my cats and dogs, but here are his views on Baby and Latte, 2 former strays.

He said that stray cats are able to live on their own. And if they were to be back on the streets, they would be grateful that for whatever time we have kept them, they had a home.

Now, is that what most people think when they abandon their cats? That they are stray cats by blood, and thus able to take care of themselves, navigate the traffic, defend themselves against stray dogs... etc. And that by keeping them for a week, a month, and then letting them go, that is doing a good deed?

I feel so demoralised after that conversation with my father.

Front page of Home section today, a pet shop was fined $100 for not vaccinating their puppies, causing the death of 4 puppies to virus. S$100 bucks??? AVA must be kidding. Vaccinating 4 puppies would have caused more than 100 bucks... so can a $100 fine be considered a penalty? What is AVA thinking????? The lives of animals in Singapore is really cheap. :( Sigh...

Loki de ma sent me some last photos of loki baby. On one hand I am happy that loki baby now has a home, on the otherhand, it is a bit sad that I will not be seeing him anymore. Oh well... I wish baby loki all the best. Remain cute and be a good boy, k?

With heavy heart, I would like to announce a death in the fuzzy babies family.

Lobbie wasn't fuzzy. He was a really cute and healthy lobster. (technically, it is a crayfish). He religiously eat up the algae in his tank, and spends his day sitting on his log, finding blood worms to eat.

Last night, Lobbie decided to be adventurous. He climbed out of the tank through the air pump tube. After that he climbed across the table and fell on the floor. Doggie_honey found him... and... Lobbie... migrated to Lobster heaven. I found him in Doggie_honey's toys this morning. Among the teddy bears, I found Lobbie. He looked ok, I put him back into the water, hoping for a miracle, but it was not to be.

The lid was on. I really don't understand how Lobbie could have escaped. I think I will not have another lobster again. I shall bury Lobbie tonight.

Rest in peace, Lobbie. I am sorry. You were a good lobster. :(

Doll is now Premier Nicsha Sheza Doll! Premier at her first Singapore show! Yeay yeay yeay yeay! She is such a show-off cat.. other cats stay IN the cage, she sits ON TOP of the cage! Oh well... hahaha...

Overall, the results are quite good. She was 2nd best, 3rd best, 4th best and 7th best for the 4 rings respectively. Not bad at all, considering she is in her summer coat! Yeay yeay yeay! Well done, Doll!

Accident!

Saw a minor accident on the way home today. I was driving on the AYE and there was a really bad jam. Two cars before me, a motorcylist suddenly skidded and fell. Luckily, the car behind him stopped in time.

The sweet thing was, the cars to his front, left, right and back all stopped and the drivers came out to check if the motorcyclist is ok. The cars formed a protective ring around the fallen man. The scene brought warmth to my heart. Maybe the world is not as bad as I thought it is.

There is still kindness . :)

Adoption Drive!

Guess what I found in my mail today? I am so excited. I think I will go pay Phyllis a visit. The last time was Chinese New Year I think. Every visit to Phyllis' was thoroughly enjoyable. I love Sunshine and Happy too! They are so loving. Most of all, I really admire what Phyllis is doing. Everytime I am there, there are bound to be a sad story or two of abused kittens, or victims of accidents. Many times, the vets suggest putting down the cats but Phyllis time and again nurse them back to health. For those who have crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge, they cross over not alone, but with Phyllis's love.

It is not easy to get over death. When Feodora died, I wanted to give up all my cats, because I didn't think I could invest my love and experience another loss again. I am so glad that I didn't. Taking care of my babies was actually part of the grieving process, but Phyllis has to handle this so often. In many cases, the cats/kittens were abused and they suffer such pain. How Phyllis can have the strength to handle all these, plus to shoulder all the paramount vet fees is beyond me. She has my utmost respect.

Went over to my friend's hostel room to have a look at her new found kitten. OMG! It is soooo uber cute lor! It has a really cute tail. I brought over my birman Doll, and he was all puffed up, trying to act aggressive! The tail was like a brush! Hahaha... it was so so funny. Doll is so much bigger than him. Tiny fearless boy! ahhahaa... the bigger ginger is the handsome loki! i wish Baby can be more masculine, like loki. Hmmm...

I can't help gushing over him... what a cute baby... really want to bring him home. BUt.... oh well....
He is really clever. He knows how to find the litter box automatically. He also suckles Loki. kekekekeke....
He will be up for adoption soon I think. Please spread the words. This cutie really deserves a good home.

Latte a bad ass?

A friend who visited my cats the other day commented that Latte is a bad ass. Well, I have to admit, he is quite aggressive. He will come over to play, but after awhile, he decides that he has had enough and will swap with his paws and bite really hard.

It would be really hard to imagine this agressive little creature... ok.. fat creature... hahha... used to be the sweetest little cat on earth. He would let people hold him forever, carry him in an position, stroke him... anything. He really tolerates any kind of handling.

However, one fateful Chinese New Year, my father's friends kids played really rough with Latte. They dangled him from his back legs. Latte is quite chubby, that must have really hurt! Nobody did anything to stop those kids, by the time I took Latte away, harm is already done. Physically he is alright, but mentally, he is no longer the innocent, friendly little cat.

We saw a 180 degrees change in his behaviour. He became very agressive. If you touch him when he is moody, he will bite. If you walk pass him when he is in a bad mood, he will jump on your foot and bite. When you carry him to his room when he doesn't want to go back yet, he will bite. Occasionally, he will display he usual sweet self, coming to you for a pat. But he is far from the sweet cat that he once was. That was 2 chinese new year ago. Today, he will initiate play, but once it gets too excited, the agressiveness comes back. I believe he no-longer trust humans totally.

It's rather sad to hear people comment that he is a bad cat. He isn't. Cruelty made him mean. And to think it happened in my own home! I hope with kindness, Latte will be back to what he was.

Tribute to Feodora Part III - A full circle

This is the last part of my tribute to Feodora. And also the hardest, most raw part to write. The wounds in my heart are still fresh, but I believe to move on, I have to talk about it.

Feodora was very young. She died when she was 9 month 10 days old. I never expect to lose her that young. There were no early warning signs. No symptoms. I was happily waiting for CFA to promote Siberians to championship class and show her under premiership for the first time! Last month, CFA finally approved the breed. It came as a bittersweet consolation. Feodora didn't live to see that. This is a picture of feo standing still for the judge at the acf show in queensland. She was in kitten class.

There are so many things I wanted to do with her, but thinking that she has a lifetime with me, I procratinate. I go out shopping during weekends instead of staying home with her. I took leave to go overseas for short holidays but never have I take leave to stay home just to be with her. I wanted to bring her out for walks more often. How she loved the grass. After the novelty cooled off, I seldom bring her out. All these I regret now... if only I have known....

Feodora adored cheese. I will give her bits for treats every now and then. I noticed something was wrong when she stopped eating. She used to 'demand' her food every morning, so that was a bit worrying. Never expecting anything could be wrong, I decided to wait a few days and see. That was on saturday.
Monday morning came. Feodora still didn't want to eat. I got more worried. She also spends the whole day sitting on the carpet, looking tired. I fed her some cheese, and for the first time in her life, she rejected the cheese.I knew something was wrong, so I made an appointment at the vet and brought her in Monday night. I went to the vet with the mentality that this couldn't be indigestion, or stress, or something minor. I mean, this was a healthy young kitten, what could be wrong?

Turned out, I couldn't be more wrong.

The vet felt Dora's stomach and her eyes started to mist up. That totally freaked me out. And for the first time, it hit me that this could be serious. The vet could feel a big lump in her stomach. Her eye lids and ears were also a bit yellow, a sign of jaundice. 'Your kitten is very sick,' the vet told me, crying herself. I was already crying then. All i could say was 'please save my baby.' The rest of the night was hell. They needed to draw some blood for blood test. They tried the 2 front paws... the blood was too slow. So they have to try the thigh instead. Words can't express how helpless I felt standing there looking at how needles are poked into my baby. Every jab is like a stab to my heart. She was so weak. She didn't even struggle. That was followed by x-ray. I took hold of her two front legs while the vet assistant took her two back legs, they took an x-ray of her stomach. After that was a long wait for the results.

I set at the bench, telling dora how pretty her bandage look. Oh pink! matches your carrier! So pretty! All these idle talk, while tears are flowing down my cheeks.

Finally, blood test results. Her liver is bad. X-rays shows a large lump the size of a tennis ball near her ribcage. Vet explain this could be something she had swallowed, or a growth. She thinks most likely it's a growth, since her liver is already damaged. But we will only know after we open her up. But she has jaundice now, so surgery may lead to complications. However, the situation is too urgent to not do the surgery immediately. Feodora was so young, she deserved a chance. I gave the go-ahead for the operation which is scheduled for the next day. In the mean time, I opt to bring her home instead of hospitalise.

That night, I couldn't sleep. I cried a lot. I stroke her and prayed. I prayed and I prayed. I begged God not to take away my baby. I asked God to please make her well again.

The next morning, I packed Dora into her carrier and drove to the vet's. It was only a 10 min drive, Dora started coughing and vomiting. She was normally very good at car rides, she has never gotten car sick before. I was so worried I burst into tears. With one hand I opened her mouth to check if there is anything stuck inside, the other hand I held the steering wheel. Dora coughed out a large amount of yellow liquid. Her whole cushion was soaked. I later learnt this was bile. It was the longest journey to the vet ever. I thought I was going to lose her there and then.

Finally, we arrived at the vet's. I took leave. Dora's Godmother Nadia was there with me. So was my bf and sister. I am so grateful to them for being just there. Dora was put on a drip, inside a cage. She looked so sad then. My heart broke again.

After that, everything was a blur. The growth in dora turned out to be lymphatic cancer. and it has already started spreading. It is all over, impossible to remove. The vet say it will be very cruel to wake her up from the operation, because she may just die from the pain in her weak state. He recommended euthanasia. It was a very painful decision. On one hand I do not want dora to go, but I also do not want her to die from pain. With a heavy heart, I signed the approval form. And Dora never woke up from the surgery table.

The final scene of her on the operation table, the smell of the clinic... all these are still so vivid now. I cannot remember how I still manage to go to work the next day. But the mere thought of her brings tear to my eyes.

A week later, I collected her ashes from the clinic. My little girl has completed one full cycle. I brought her ashes home, as promised. Mommy will bring you home.

Bad night ...

Last night was a horrible night. Cattie_Baby was teasing Doggie_honey at 3am! Hello! I need my beauty sleep! They were making such a den! Doggie_honey was so excited inside her sleeping crate that she kept shaking the cage door. Cattie_baby kept putting his paw inside to 'catch' Doggie_honey. To add to the noise, Doggie_honey started yapping from excitement! It would have been an amusing sight, but at 3am!!!!!! I coax Doggie_honey to sleep, she was quite tired, so she fell asleep soon. With one side of the noise maker down, i thought I can go back to my sleep. Hell no! Cattie_baby decided the bedroom is too boring. He OPENED the door and wandered outside instead. That's no so bad. To lazy to get up, I decided to let him roam the living room. BUT, the rascal decided to open every single door in the house. Most of them are locked. And THAT WAS EVEN NOISIER!!!!! It woke up Doggie_Honey again... and in addition Cattie_Doll and Cattie_Latte. In the end, I have to make a trip out to get all of them back into the room again. By the time I finish, it was 5am. Heck... the night is gone... and I don;t know why, i suddenly thought of Feodora. The last time I stayed up all night, it was the night before she died. I stayed up the whole night to pray, and to stroke her. She laid on my bed the whole night. I didn't complain then. In fact, I wished the night could last forever... so why am I complaining now? What is a night, compared to the health of my babies? It would be more worrying if they DON'play.Somehow everything seems so insignificant now. I couldn't believe I was so angry then. Sorry Cattie_Baby. Mommy was horrible to you. I will give you extra fish fish later. *muacks*

Feodora arrived in Singapore in a pink carrier, all covered with pee and feces. She is afterall, still a baby, cannot hold her bladder for too long. It was a long flight from Brisbane. But finally, Feodora was home! She was a happy little kitten. She explored the house as if she was the queen of the house. She accepted Baby & Latte immediately, although it took them some time to get use to her.
She has so many cute habits, I really don't know how to record all of them down. She will follow you around in the morning until you open the can of cat food. She will wait at your foot and 'chirp', asking you to hurry up with that food. She eats with relish. hahah...
She sleeps on the bed every night. Curled up around the feet, at the waist, anywhere she could get a warm spot.
She likes the sun, always sun tanning by the window where the sun comes in.
She is a very good climber. She could do all kind of acrobatic stunts on the cat tree. In fact, i bought the cat tree for her...
Here is a picture of her looking really miserable in my sister's arm. She doesn't like to be carried around. But she will still tolerate me. She growls when being carried, not the fierce kind. Just to show her displeasure. When she realise she cannot have her own way, she stops. That was really cute. :P Spoilt you may say, but i find that so endearing.

I would like to write about her last journey too... but that is still a very painful memory... and i know i will have to do that in private. course i will cry again...

Tribute to Feodora

The thought is always there, I have always wanted to write a tribute to Feodora, but just haven't taken the time to sit down and actually do it. She is always on my mind. Doing this is not easy. Every picture brings tears to my eyes.

Tribute to Miakoschka Feodora - The little cat that lived with me for a mere 6 months but will reside forever in my heart...

The beginning:

The photo Marie sent me. Marie offered me a couple of kittens. I was really undecided then. And then I saw this photo. I don't know. I was smitten then. There is something about her that caught my eye. There were kittens in the same litter who are better type. But eventually, I still chose her. Then, it was a frantic search for a nice russian name. Feodora: Gift from God. How appropriate. A beautiful name for a beautiful kitty. Marie commented that she will be a wonderful kitten for me. How correct she was. Feodora was a purrfect kitten.

The trip to Feodora's home:
Nadia and I made a trip to Marie's home. Marie, then an unknown stranger to us, offer us to stay at her home. What great hospitality! There, I got to meet Marie's many many cats, and of course, Feodora for the first time!!! This is Feodora and her sister Isidora. Coincidentally, her sister is also named -dora. hahahha...
It wasn't a fairy tale. Feodora didn't like me at first sight. Hahaha... in fact, she ran away from me everytime i approach. She will growl when I carry her. Here is one of the few instances she played with me. That's me in the jeans, and the Nine West shoes that nad wants to buy! hahahahahha.....
I was more smitten with Isidora, her sister, who was the more outgoing one. The first night I slept with her, I didn't bring a litter box into the room and she eliminated on the floor! ahhahaha... I must add, I think Tim peed on nad's bag! anyway, someone did pee on nad's bag!!!! hahahah... should be tim. :P
Feodora was very naughty. Being a kitten, she chases her sister around the house, having lots of fun. They were a great joy to watch, Isi, tim and feo.
Here's one of feo being caught raiding the wardrobe. She was a happy little cat. My worry then was, will she like me? It would be so sad to have a little cat that runs away from you all the time. But I realise now, that's needless worry. Seems like it's a siberian trait. They adore their owners but are wary of strangers. We observed that the cats never behave that way with Marie. Hahaha... anyway, we know when Feodora finally arrive in Singapore.

Introducing Nicsha Sheza Doll & gang

How can I not post a photo of Doll! Fetched her from the airport on March 10th. She is my the 4th member of my little animal household.

Household ranking (so far):
1. Cattie_Baby: He is the first. He thinks he is the top cat. So far, he seems to be correct. Although Cattie_Doll challenges his position ever so often. Way to go, girl power!
2. Cattie_Doll: I think she is now rank number 2. Everywhere she goes, other lowly citizens give way. Except Cattie_Baby of course. But Cattie_Doll is strong. She knows how to bribe the people with rubs and purrs. I think Cattie_Baby's position is shaky. hahaha.... we shall see.
3. Cattie_Latte: Eat, sleep. Eat, sleep. Cattie_Latte is a very peaceful cat. He doesn't care about hierachy. As long as there is food, he is happy. This puts him lowest among the cats, but consolation is, he is still above the doggie.
4. Doggie_Honey: Likes everybody. (very one-sided love) Other than Cattie_Baby, I don't see any catties that seems especially fond of her. Hahhaa... Cattie Baby is her best friend. Good tactic. If you can't be the best, be-friend the best. Hahahaa....

Special Category: Cattie_Dora: She was such a wonderful kitty, she deserves a category all by herself. She was a very friendly cat, but also a no-nonsense cat. She was very sociable, but held her own very well against the other cats. Definitely not a push-over. I believe she would have make a great matriarch of the household.

Baby Latte aka brokeback mountain

Sometimes I really doubt the sexual orientation of cattie_baby & cattie_latte... hmmm.... they sleep hugging each other. They are depressed when kept in different rooms. They lick each other dry after bathing. If one goes off somewhere, say to the vet, they will hug each other on 'reunion'. I don't know.... they are weird.... hahahaa...

peaceful morning!

Finally, i experience a peaceful morning. Sleeping with 3 cats and 1 dog is not easy. They seem to gang up and make sure I have a hectic morning before i leave for work.

Anyway, today is different. Everything is in place this morning. Doggie held her bowels until I bring her out to relief herself. Cattie_Baby was sleeping soundly beside me on my pillow. He is usually up on the aircon, cupboard, anywhere high. Cattie_Latte is sleeping as usual. he is the lowest maintenance cat in the house. Cattie_Doll is happily eating her kibbles. Good. Very good.
If only everyday can be this peaceful. :)

Woke up this morning to find Honey's pedigree cert on the floor. In pieces!!!!!
Baby must have been part of this conspiracy. He must be really jealous of all the pedigree members and is out to destroy all their pedigrees!!!!!!
anyway, i put the cert in a file, placed the file on a shelf at the TOP of the table lor. Baby must have pull it out and threw it onto the floor! Honey, being the unknowing victim, must have happily chewed it. DAMN!!!
I have since hide doll, dora and the left over of honey's cert in a drawer. Naughty baby.

Death

Death is not new to me. In the past few years, I have lost my grandfather, subsequently my grandmother. I was devastated then, but somehow, i got over it. When I think of my grandparents now, the first thoughts are of them sharing a warm moment with me, not of them lying at the funeral parlor...

So why is it so difficult for me to let go, to move on, after my kitten Feodora died? I call her kitten, because she was just a tender 8 months cat. Why? Why? It was such a traumatising experience. Now as I am writing this, i still can't help crying. Unlike for the cases of my grandparents, when I think of her now, my first thoughts are of her bandaged back leg, her look when she was kept in the vet's holding area, her spread-eagle unconsious while the vet assistant shave her belly, and eventually her lifeless body on the operation table.

It's so hard to move on. Maybe her death came too unexpectedly and premature. I don't know... But I really don't know when I can think of her and not cry anymore.

I miss her so much.

Feodora has been here for more than a day now. I guess the introductions went quite well; all three are rather friendly with each other now. Baby seems to be on better term with Dora than Latte.

Just for the record, Baby is 1 yr 2 months, Latte is 1 yr 1 months, and Dora is 4 months.
